Hon. Tickodri-Togboa takes oath

The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Rebecca Kadaga on Wednesday 6th May 2015 presided over the administration of the oath of the new Minister of State for Higher Education, Science and Technology, Hon.  Professor Sandy Stevens Tickodri-Togboa.

Hon. Togboa took the Oath of Allegiance and Oath of Member of Parliament during plenary in the House.

Rt. Hon. Kadaga welcomed him to the House saying that the Parliament was ready and willing to work with him.
“We expect you to make a significant contribution much as you have come at the end of this term of Parliament,” the Speaker said.

The Government Chief Whip, Hon. Ruth Nankabirwa cited Hon. Tickodri’s joining of the Cabinet as a strategic appointment.
“The President has been laying emphasis on the areas of science and technology, therefore this appointment serves as the President’s commitment to the sector,” Hon. Nankabirwa emphasized.

Hon. Cecilia Ogwal on behalf of the Leader of the Opposition welcomed the arrival of the new Minister.
“Professor Togboa is going to add value to technical analysis of how we can move forward and create employment for the youth,” Hon. Ogwal asserted.

Hon. Professor Togboa becomes an Ex-Officio Member of Parliament having been appointed a Minister without representing any constituency. He previously served as the Deputy Vice Chancellor – Finance and Administration of Makerere University and is a Professor of Engineering.
Hon. Togboa was part of the team that created the electric car called the Kiira EV at Makerere University.
