The lecturers at the university are on a sit down strike following the court’s decision that saw the embattled Kyambogo University Vice Chancellor, Professor Isaiah Ndiege back to office.

Kampala Metropolitan Police commander Alex Felix Kawesi, Ministry Education Officials and some Kyambogo University staff are locked up in a meeting to decide on the matter and could even temporarily close the institution.

According to an insider who is in the meeting, the state minister for higher Education Dr. JC Muyingo said that they have to respect the rule of law.

“We have to respect the rule of law. Prof Ndiege will stay on like the High Court ruled,” said Muyingo.

In a meeting that was held yesterday at Kyambogo between Kyambogo University Lectures and the University council, the lecturers vowed to continue with the strike unless the embattled vice chancellor Prof. Isaiah Ndiege resigns from his position.

  1. These lecturers should be replaced let them go and rear pigs. Prof Ndiege is innocent 2 courts have proved that !!! The only reason he is disliked is just because he doesn’t condone and has refused to join their MAFIA organisation of eating.

  2. Prof. Ndiege is a man of integrity. He is right man to manage Kyambogo University. As former VC Prof. Lutalo Bossa put it in his words ” Instead of these so called lecturers demanding to go for further studies so that they become Drs., they are wasting precious time fighting for downfall/removal of a single person in the name of Vice Chancellor”. I concur these are words from a wise person, an educated Ugandan. Lecturers in Kyambogo University are time wasters and gossipers. I wish government esp. Higher education takes full mandate of managing this mighty institution and get rid of most of these “Garbage lecturers”. They are totally not working for the good of Kyambogo, complete detractors and destroyers. Close Kyambogo for a period of 4 months and in which time source for new breed of teachers. This is the way to go. Every employee in this world has an employer and the employer appraises his/her employees. Kyambogo University Lectureres are not VC employers, they are VCs subordinate. The university council should get this right and get ready to take the Bull by the horns if it means. There is nothing like “acting in public interest”. Lecturers must go and VC takes his seat and recruit fresh teachers. In Kyambogo University I belief.
