Members of Parliament from the Forum for Democratic Change will today meet party leaders for a review of the parliamentary positions.

The positions under review include the Leader of Opposition seat currently held by Nandala Mafabi, and committee seats including the Public Accounts Committee led by Terego County MP Kasiano Wadri.

Others are Local Governments committee by chaired by Rukiga County MP Jack Sabiti, Government Assurances Committee chaired by Aruu MP Odonga Otto and chairmanship of the Commissions, Statutory Authorities and State Enterprises Committee which is chaired by Kumi County MP Patrick Amuriat Oboi.

Wafula Oguttu, the party spokesperson tells URN that if they discuss review of the parliamentary seats tomorrow, their decision shall be forwarded to the Management Committee chaired by Party President Maj Gen Mugisha Muntu. The party leader will then forward it to the National Executive Committee.

Last year there were reports that the Leader of Opposition seat was being contested for by top party members such Secretary General and Serere woman MP Alice Alaso. Others mentioned include Dokolo woman MP Cecilia Ogwal, Shadow Attorney General Abdu Katuntu and Terego MP Kassiano Wadri.

Wafula says they do not expect a lot to change because the party is trying to stabilise and unite members after a year of disagreements over party positions.

After Nandala losing the party presidency to Maj Gen Muntu in November 2012, FDC was thrown into turmoil with reports of a split orchestrated by the pro-Mafabi faction.

Those opposed to the Budadiri West MP had even convinced Muntu that Nandala be given a position as the shadow Finance Minister to take over from Geoffrey Ekanya, the Tororo Municipality MP.
