Nakasongola police are holding eight people in connection to a suspected ritual murder.
The suspects include two witchdoctors Joel Kazungu and Moses Kazibwe, both residents of Naktoma Sub County in Nakasongola District. Others are Musisi Ssemanda, Wahab Mulumba, Issa Mukiibi, Johnbosco Matovu, Fred Buyungo and Moses Luyiga.
The suspects are wanted in connection to the brutal murder of Juma Kavuma, a barber at Kiryabyoya Trading Centre in Nakitoma Sub County in Nakasongola District.
Kavuma was killed on Monday night and his body dumped in his saloon. His tongue and private parts were missing when the body was found by residents on Tuesday morning.
Lamech Kigozi, the Savanna region Police spokesperson said the suspects are being held at Nakasongola police station to help police investigations. James Semyano, the Nakitoma sub county LCIII chairperson alleges that Kavuma was abducted on his way home from his saloon and taken to Ssemanda’s shrine where he was sacrificed.
According to Semyano, the assailants wrapped a cloth around the deceased’s neck to dupe the public that he had committed suicide. He however, said that the residents became suspicious after they removed the cloth and discovered that the assailants cut their victims neck. Semyano suspects that the assailants drained their victim’s blood because they didn’t much blood where his body was dumped.
He said that they traced blood drops to Semanda’s shrine leading to his arrest and his accomplices.
