Angry motorists and residents of Kisiita Sub County in Kibaale district have lynched a suspected motorcycle thief. The deceased has only been identified as Seba, a casual laborer in Kisiita trading center.
Seba met his death on Friday afternoon shortly after he collided with a boda boda motorist at Kyangota –Masaka village along Kisiita-nalweyo road.
He was riding a bajaj motorcycle registration number UCE-663-E, which was allegedly stolen from a boda boda operator only identified as Moses, a resident of Nyabirungi Kisiita Sub County the previous evening. Moses is currently admitted at Hoima regional referral hospital. Shortly after the accident, angry motorists descended on Seba and thumped him to death before setting his body ablaze.
Close relatives to Moses claim that after regaining consciousness on his sick bed in hospital, Moses revealed that he had been attacked by four people including the deceased, Magid, Bashir and Ensinikweri, all residents of Kisiita Sub County. On Friday, hundreds of residentsstormed Bashir’s home set his property ablaze.
Police fired live bullets to disperse the rowdy residents. Three suspects were picked up to help police investigations into the mob justice incident. Ben Mugisha, the the Officer in charge Criminal Investigations Kibaale district says they have launched investigations to bring to all the perpetrators of the mob justice to book. This is the fourth case of mob justice in Kibaale district since this year begun.
