Mr. Basena has already started work with the team at the Mukono based Ntawo training grounds.

Basena will be assisted by Moses Oloya who will also be the goal keeping coach.

In his remarks, Basena promised to improve the team performance.

“I hate losing, if you can’t win the game at least don’t lose it,” he said.

Adding that; “I don’t have very many friends in football and partly because I don’t engage is silly things, we will work very hard, and if you are willing to work as hard as I am, you will be my friend, there is no doubt you guys know how to play football, but your results have not been very impressive and that points to something, talent alone is not enough,” Basena told the players.

“Everything we do, we shall do as a team, we shall play as a unit, different roles but the same objective and we shall win together,” Basena added.

Basena, who will also continue serving as an assistant coach for Uganda Cranes, has vast experience in football having played the game and coached at top clubs in Uganda and in the region.

His first assignment will be the Uganda Cup game round of 32 against BUL FC at Kakindu on Sunday (February 14).

In the previous round of Uganda Cup, The Saints saw off Nyakishenyi FC from Rukungiri, winning 4-0.

Club Chairman Musinguzi asked the players, staff and the fans of The Saints to welcome Mr. Basena and Mr Oloya to the Club.
