Six police officers attached to Kamwenge police station in Kamwenge district are behind bars at the Rwenzori regional police headquarters in Fort Portal on allegations of murder.
The regional police spokesperson Bakar Muga said that the officers were arrested on Wednesday from Kamwenge following allegations that they participated in the murder of 24-year-old Gideon Agaba commonly known as Ofwono.
Muga said that there are allegations that on the night of November 15, while at Mubushenyi cell in Kamwenge town council, the police officers shot Agaba dead under unknown circumstances.
He said the regional professional standards unit—PSU is investigating circumstances under which the officers who are supposed to keep law and order could have shot a civilian.
