At least 25 women including a student of Gulu University are in police custody in Gulu for alleged prostitution.
Jimmy Patrick Okema, the Aswa region police spokesperson said that the women were arrested on Friday following public outcry on the rising cases of prostitution.
Two of those arrested are juveniles aged 15 and 16 years respectively.
The women were picked from the areas of Labor line, Cereleno and Konypaco in Gulu district.
The student from Gulu University whose name was not disclosed by police was released later on Friday to enable her sit for her examination paper at the University.
Okema said that investigations are ongoing. He urged the community to always report such cases to the police.
Just last month, the police in Gulu arrested 23 people for allegedly engaging in prostitution.
